RUSSIAN REVOLUTION – UGG BOOTS CROSSING BORDERS

 I had a visit from an old friend the other week.  He’s a reporter from Mother Russia.  On one particularly bitter winter evening, he complained about how cold his feet were.

”Just a sec,” I said as I went to retrieve an older set of Ugg boots from the store room.

”These'll sort you out,” I said and he put the boots on and almost instantly I could see utter amazement on his face.

In utter incredulity, he began to interrogate me about where I had sourced the boots.  This time it was me who was shocked.  Despite living in one of the hottest places on Earth, Australia, I make sure to have at least one or two pairs of winter sheepskin Ugg boots.  Russia is almost permanently cold yet this guy has no idea about Ugg boots – I was amazed.

”Incredible,” he said softly, and I was delighted to see he was an instant convert.  I guffawed and told him to keep them.  He shook his head and told me he wanted a pair for each member of his family.

He woke early and went shopping at my preferred local sheepskin products vendor.  He returned with half a dozen pairs of Uggs and an internet address to order more from home.

”This is awesome, my family will be so impressed,” he stated and it made me consider how something can be so ordinary to one person, but completely novel and exciting to another.  I guess I can't blame him, if I lived in Russia WITHOUT Ugg boots I'd be pretty darn excited too.

He left a short time later and I found myself wondering just how far the Russian connection would go - did I just open up a new market for the Australian wool industry?

I always use Prestige Sheepskin in Perth for my genuine Ugg boots.  I also frequent them in order to buy their awesome sheepskin car seat covers.  I have found their attention to detail, customer service and product quality to be without comparison.  My faith in them has been rewarded by my being able to give my Russian friend a quality contact for something really hot for cold feet !.
